What type of beer due you like? Do you prefer ales, lagers etc? Do you like a malty beer or a hoppy beer? What brand of beer is your favorite and why?
I’m kind of a hop head and prefer an ale with a moderate bitter hops taste. I do like an IPA, but one of my favorites is Sierra Nevada Pale Ale. I love the hoppy bitterness, with very slight matly flavor.

I have tried Arrogant Bastard Ale, and you’re right it’s a great brew. Brewed by Stone Brewery out of Escondido, CA the breweries only a few miles from my house. To be honest there’s not a Stone Beer that I don’t like, it’s all geared towards hop lover’s. You should check out thier web site and read the description of Arrogant Bastard Ale, http://www.stonebrew.com. We’ll be reviewing this great beer soon. Jim

I just tried an Ale made by Bootlegger Brewery in Fullerton, CA. Actually I tried two of there Ale’s, the Palomino Ale (American Style) and there Amber (ALT style Ale), both Ales had the perfect balance of flavor, I recommend both.

I’ve never heard of Bootlegger Brewery. Next time I come out to Fullerton I’ll have to try it. We need to set a date and have you come out and try the brews at Kimmy’s work. I think they just came out with a new IPA. They have a great American Pale Ale and Red Ale as well. Great BBQ also. Call me and we’ll set a date.

I got hooked on the hops many years ago. The hoppier and more bitter, the better. It ruined(?) my taste buds, though. I can’t drink, or even get near, any of those higher marketed domestic swills – you know who you are. Anyway, I’ve been around the country, and am always on the lookout for a local microbrewery. There seems to be no end to good small breweries in this fine land, some better than others, to be sure. Here’s some I would recommend. Buffalo Bills in Hayward, Ca. – fantastic IPA and one called Tazmanian Devil, which is very very hoppy and bitter and alcohol content on the top of the beer curve. Thunder Canyon in Tucson, Arizona – mighty fine ales! Moylans Triple IPA from Novato, Ca. (they’ll only serve this in a six ounce glass -wonder why. And my local favorite, Lagunitas IPA, the old standby, from Petaluma, Ca. -sold by the case at my Costco for a song and a dance. I hope you get to try some of these fine brews if you’re ever out west. Happy drinking and leave the driving to, well, someone sober. Bill

Billy, I’m a hop head like you. Have you ever tried Stone Ruiniation? If you like hops, this is the brew for you. Stone says “it’s a liquid poem to the hops lover”. It has 100 plus IBU’s. They call it Ruination because of the ruining effect on your pallet. I must admit a hoppy IPA is my choice in a brew.
